Is it just me or is fairlady the gayest thing you could name a car? (even if it is a rice burnin' pile of crap)

The American car called Gaylord Gladiator wins that trophy.

IDK bandit, I still think fairlady is pretty fruity name for a car.

Fairlady is a good name for a car IMO, you would mostly see that kind of name on a ship or something. And I happen to like the Fairlady/350 Z.

The Fairlady name has an honourable history in Japan, and being a foreign name it carries none of the connotations that it has in modern English. In the early 1950s Nissan entered into a deal with Austin to build the A40 Somerset from CKD kits. This enabled them to start producing a relatively modern car for the home and nearby markets without the costs of new design, development and tooling. The association with Austin lasted several years and helped Nissan to establish itself in the post-war market place. When the business agreement with Austin ended Nissan named its first home-grown car the Fairlady in recognition of the successful partnership with Austin. For the Japanese buyer a European name had a certain cachet - and it translated safely, too! Something similar was tried in the 1930s (?) with the American company Graham Paige but I don't think it was successful; maybe because Graham Paige went out of business.

Tonight's assignment is to read the next two chapters and there will be a test next week... :)

It was named in tribute of My Fair Lady starring Audrey Hepburn. What the f#ck is gay about that? And for the record, a Z is a sports car with a rich motorsports heritage. A Honda Civic is a rice burner.

I agree with stpaulcarguy. It's indeed a disgusting thing, especially in the pimped version. Poor and embarassing, as the owner and the lovers for this. A car for densed boy from the countryside.
Hopefully it will be destroyed.

hate it when people classify anything as a "rice burner"... none of those cars run on rice... its not disgusting when cars aren't left stock, its all about expressing one's self... think of kitted and spoilered cars as art instead of something that doesn't get you where you want to go as fast as you'd like. Artistic expression is awesome, no matter what form its in.

Finally i found someone on this website that actually knows the difference between a ricer (honda civic, honda accord, ford probe), and a tuner/import (skyline, supra, rx7, eclipse, faielady Z etc...). I thought i was the only one here who knew fast and furious cars arent ricers (atleast not all of them, depends on how fast they are and the driver).

the real reason it is called rice burner, it sounds like rice is being shot out the tail pipe (*hint* listen to it closely)

For some reason, the Jada diecast version is a 350Z.
