So its not one of the Transformers? What happens with it out of curiosity?

Spoiler - click here to see it
It's not a Transformer. The main characters break into it and hotwire it to escape after a Decepticon attacks them at Sam's university. It's crashed into a pole (or a tree, can't remember) to destroy the decepticon.

It's just a random car in a parking lot, no special powers, good or bad.

A random car that was strategically placed in there as promotional material for GM :D

Isn't the Saturn brand already scheduled either for closure or for being sold?

No, it won't be closed. I was wrong. Just made some closer "research" and read that it has been sold to the Penske Automotive Group earlier this month.

:??: Sorry, but Saturn was/is no good name. It's no-name at all. No history, no own developments or projects, nothing. Just badge-engineering of GM-cars from other brands and countries, disguised for the American market, because they had nothing US-made for that.

That's not entirely accurate. Originally, Saturns were built on dedicated platforms in their own factory, and weren't rebadged anythings (rebadging cheap foreign cars was Geo's job). It's only been recently that Saturns have become rebadged Opels. Furthermore, Saturn has always earned praise for their excellent customer service and dealerships, and because the brand is highly respected in this regard, it's certainly valuable enough to keep it open.

Indeed, when Saturn first started, they designed and built their own cars, its was later that GM decided to lasso
Saturn, as if it were an outlaw, and bring it in closer and badge-engineer all its cars.

GM sad it was because Saturn wasn’t doing so well, however others argue that GM was trying to save money (like it is now)
and figured by taking away Saturn’s freedom, it could save money. Saturn had built for itself a dedicated costumer base. People
loved the prompt service at dealerships and being treated like family. "The Saturn experience" as it was known, became
very popular. Reportedly other car companies began to sit up and take notice of this.

And yes, Penske Automotive has bought Saturn from GM, so now maybe Saturn can become what it was meant to be in
the first place.

It's the only chance. I don't believe, that Opel will continue to deliver all the needed stuff.

btw.: does anyone know, how it will going on with GM of South America? They aren't included the Opel/Vauxhall-deal, but they are producing 99,9% pure Opels.

It's such a shame that the majority of the brands that GM were killing off or selling have all found buyers including Saturn above, and yet pontiac the best out of that lot is still destined for the graveyard.

Unfortunately, this Astra has been destroyed!!!! It's very sad!!!! Moreover, my mother have one, but since she lives in the French Caribbean island of Guadeloupe, it's sold with the Opel badge.

Not true, do you know of the S Series models that Saturn was built upon and sold for 11 years? The S Series Saturn was its own design, using less than 1% of crossover parts from GM, namely retainers, screws, etc. That company would be alive and quite well if GM would not have used the good name that the Saturn brand built with the S car to sell the remakes you are speaking of, and cancelled the S Series in favor of larger, more expensive, and fancier vehicles. The S Series are great cars...easily serviced, polymer panels to avoid rust, and very safe due to the spaceframe construction. Very sought after as used cars here, by those who know.

Apparently the true Saturns that were built specifically to attack Honda and Toyota didn't due enough damage to the Japanese targets so Saturn was allowed to wither and die. The true Saturns just were not as good or better than Hondas and Toyotas. Sad story.

Notice how the front bumper/fender damage changes between shots from the moment Michaela runs 'Alice' against the lamp post till the car is picked up by the decepticon chopper...

You don't need to post random Wikimedia images of the cars in question, we know what they are and how they look like.
