Fake Saudi Arabia plate (I think @Bahraini Carguy may take this challenge), so Indonesian-specs (Made for RI) suffices. Although the facelifted T4 debuted globally for 1996, Indonesians have to wait until 1998 to get their hands on one sold by Volkswagen's Indonesian partner, Garuda Mataram Motor (GMM) from Indomobil Group. Locally-assembled by them too. Clearly, the trim level was correct as there were initially two trim levels/variants when first sold here; GL (petrol variant; example of a 1999 model in Mencuri Raden Saleh) and TDI (this one; turbodiesel variant), both were 2.5-litre five-cylinders, with an additional 2.8 VR6 trim being later offered during the early 2000s in limited quantities. Infos were obtained from OtoSeken.ID (now part of GridOto) and Mobil Motor Lama, with the assembly info taken from Wikipedia. |
