Packard, there's the radiator and the old slogan on the wall.

Location is America's Packard Museum, a former Packard dealership now operating as a museum in Dayton, Ohio.

This 1928 Six is one of the highlights of their collection.

Quote America’s Packard Museum was founded in 1992 by Robert Signom, II, an avid car collector. The green on green 1928 Packard is a family heirloom. Signom II restored the vintage auto with his father.

Quote The museum was founded as a tribute to Robert Signom Sr. by his son, Bob, a lawyer and collector who also serves as the museum’s curator. Among the possessions the father had lost during the Depression was a 1928 Packard Six Cylinder Convertible Coupe, a car that to him symbolized quality and success.

That car now sits in the museum’s showroom, its return to the Signom family a result of a for-sale ad in this newspaper. On a business trip to New York, the son’s habit of checking the local classified listings turned up an ad for a green Packard much like his father’s car. He called his father to ask if there was anything special that might identify the car he had once owned. The father said he could think of only one thing: “To make my golf clubs fit, I made a two-inch slit in the upholstery where it couldn’t be seen, just above the floor and about three inches behind the seat.”

Bob Signom arranged to see the car; running his hand behind the seat and down the upholstery revealed the slit his father had described. In addition, Packard serial number plates were imprinted with the name of the delivering dealer, and this one read Citizens Motorcar Company, Dayton, Ohio.

“I bought that Packard for more than I should have,” Mr. Signom said.
