1967-69 F-Series. Does that cowl insignia really have a mix of red and orange? |

Okay, make that a 1968-69. I thought the driver might've tried to paint over half of a '67's cowl inisgina. |

![]() Custom Cab badge UPDATE: I also boosted G-Mann's 3-star rating to 4. The truck is owned by a major character and appears in four or five scenes throughout the whole movie. -- Last edit: 2013-09-14 02:10:19 |

I am the current new owner of the truck from this movie. It is, in fact, a 1968 F100. The VIN number indicates it was built in December 1967. Yes, the grille seems to be a 1969. The brown power seats are clearly not original to the truck, but were in the truck in the movie. In fact, the truck has many variations from "stock" in the movie, and those variations remain in the truck today. This truck is a mess of amateur modifications. But it is definitely, with 100% certainty, the truck from the movie. With the truck came the maps, etc that are seen on the dashboard in the movie, as well as a beat up business card from the production company. The truck is beat up enough, and has enough quirks that it's pretty easy to verify just by looking at photos. Interesting that I found another listing on the 'net of someone else claiming to be offering for sale the truck from the movie, and it's not even CLOSE to being the truck from the movie. Clearly that seller hasn't seen the movie or he'd notice right away. His offering is an F100, but the details aren't even in the ballpark. |

I went ahead and shipped up a quick web page with comparison photos of the truck as I have it and as it was in the movie. After all, there's been ten years between shooting the movie and today, so the primer coat has worn off more, showing more of the blue paint below. And of course it's a bit more weathered, but it's quite clear it's the same truck. This should get you there: http://www.ironrangecountry.com/bsmtruck1.html This truck seems to have a lot of 1969 details on it (grille and tail reflectors for example). Although I've found some Ford promo photos that are for 1968 trucks that have what appears to be a 1969 grille in them. Also, this truck VIN says it should have a 360 but it's clearly a small block, I believe a 302. Quirky! |
