What does Vaz mean? why do you say it? |

VAZ is the manufacturer of Ladas. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VAZ |

And usually we were listing Russian Ladas under VAZ |

21011 exactly. Is it necessary in this case to have this name twice (as model and chassis)? -- Last edit: 2008-05-29 21:57:15 |

Nope. That lada was known in Russia as lada Zhiguli. VAZ codename should be listed only as chassis number/code. |

Not really. I think it was Zhiguli 2101/11. Or Lada or Zhiguli, not both together, like for me (you can also find them named as "VAZ 2101 Zhiguli/Lada") - I have no idea why someone has renamed a lot of cars on the site to "Lada Zhiguli". About the number names, they are not really just chassis codes, last time I've seen a 2107 and this number was on the badge - it was a model name in this case. The number should be listed as the chassis when cars are known under different names - Nova, 1300 etc. |

Zhiguli 2101 had numbers: 2101, 21011, 21012, 21013, 21016, 21018, 21019 and export names 1200, 1300 and 1200 S Zhiguli 2102 (SW) had numbers: 2102, 21021, 21022, 21024, 21025, 21026 and export names: Lada 1200 Combi, 1300 Combi and 1500 Combi Conclusion: There isn't any method to group all Ladas together :\ |

With grouping them together it is easy, with saying which exactly it is, in case of 21012/22+, is... less easy. I completly wouldn't care about the name "VAZ" and list all of them just under makes Zhiguli and Lada. -- Last edit: 2008-05-30 14:22:43 |

Exactly! But i'll prefer only Lada as brand name. (Zhiguli can be a model name for Russian market, export names was different). |

Why isn't the 111 called VAZ anyways? |
