I knew it! Now we have to narrow down the years. |

This is an old post, but just to clarify, the interior of the elongated oval on this car's bumper identifies it as a 1957 0r '58. That oval was redesigned for '59. Also, the hubcap design in the center of the faux continental kit design on the Flightsweep Rear Deck was unique for each model year. This one is clearly a 1957. Finally, the car is a 1957 Southampton Four Door Hardtop, but it's not possible to identify the series as a base series, a Crown, or a LeBaron. For what it's worth, 7,157 Southampton Four Door Hardtop units were produced in '57 in the base series, 4,729 Crown units, and 821 of the high-end LeBarons. |

Getting back to this post after our discussion of '57 to '59 Imperials in another thread, where do we see that this "clearly" a '57? I agree it's not a '59 owing to the bumper design but you cannot see the center design on the tire imprint well. Couldn't this be a '58? Need a better shot without obstruction, I would think. -- Last edit: 2012-07-02 19:08:03 |
