Main is a Monteverdi build - slanting rear edge on rear door, compared to vertical on Solihull builds (2nd thumb). Approx 300 Range Rover Monteverdi built, mainly sold to Middle East customers - "Monteverdi Design" badge mounted on scuttle, tailgate, and grille - Door handles and locks from Austin Allegro - Approx 60 vehicles sold in UK, available from late 1981 - First Monteverdi prototype built August 1979 - Last Monteverdi built 11 March 1982 - Metallic colours actually BL colours on early vehicles and BMW colours on later ones - Schuler Automatic FF also available - Complete 2 doors in white with air-con were shipped to Monteverdi's converter, Carozzeria Fissore in Savigliano, Italy. From here (scroll to 1980 heading). KUV 1 in 3rd thumb is an early one for wing mirrors and likely a royal family visit to something/somewhere. Plate was issued to royal fleet in a series KUV 1-20 for 'King's Utility Vehicle', and has appeared on various things over the years from Liz's custom Zephyr Mk2 Woodie estate to an Iveco horsebox. |
