I strongly suspect that. Feel free to prove me wrong, if you have proof. |

It’s a Daimler radiator, certainly. Nothing else is certain from these pictures though. Better to wait for an expert. -- Last edit: 2022-04-26 17:21:08 |

I can't venture very far with any confidence, but I'll fly some flags for folk to throw stones at ... - later 20s/early 30s grille before central bar arrived - not very big, so something mid-size in the Daimler range. The pics I can find of limo-based hearses with 8 or 12 cyl engines all look as if they had taller and wider windscreens - 2 spare wheels so while not a long bonnet/big engine, the bonnet was long enough to accommodate them without looking silly - rear bodywork in 1st thumb looks fairly short - proportions more like a delivery van than a coffin-bearer. Glimpse of seats suggests maybe a mourners minibus-like thing?? - same thought may rule out converted ambulance as an origin. |

Unless the still is distorted, the image posted by Ddey65 looks to show a shallower type of radiator when compared to some others of the period. I would agree with the period c.1927 - 30, though a central grille bar had been introduced on some models of Daimler at that point. As for chassis type? I would say that would be impossible to establish from the images, though definitely too early to be such as a Straight-Eight (V26). The bodywork (I don't want to use the term 'coachwork'!) looks to have been constructed by Henhouse & Co. Dreadful. -- Last edit: 2022-06-12 13:04:34 |
