Quote The Seelisberg tunnel has been designed as a 9. 25 km twin-tubed tunnel carrying two lanes of traffic in each direction over a stretch just south of Lucerne on the projected N2 motorway from Basel to Chiasso. Access to the site is difficult because the main entrances at the southern end of the tunnel emerge in the sheer face of an old quarry, about 50 m above the level of nearby Lake Lucerne. To facilitate construction, an access tunnel of 75 m**2 cross-section was driven to cut the main tunnel axes at right angles from a plateau of 500 m**2, also on the side of the quarry but a few hundred meters along from the main portals. From the access tunnel, the main tunnels were excavated, first 'backwards' to the tunnel exits and then ahead into the mountain, thus forming an H shape in plan. Excavation is by drill and blast. The boreholes are drilled to just over 4 m by a Montabert Jumbo mounted on a Euclid R45 chassis which together weigh 95 tons, possible the largest truck-mounted jumbo in the world .

Montabert is french jumbo drill maker

the Euclid R45 looks like this and seems indeed they removed bucket and added those drills on it
