Maybe something custom-build with old car body... |

I tracked down the monster. https://i.ytimg.com/vi/alC0sHxWUto/maxresdefault.jpg It's got a pre-1928 Dodge radiator but judging by the hood vents I think it is actually a 1929 DeSoto. All the trim around the board walls seems to be missing. I especially like how the bumper seems to be attached to what is literally a pair of bathroom towel rails or possibly faucets! As Homer would say: "Why doesn't mine look like that?!" Link to "images.squarespace-cdn.com" |

Doin' me head in, this one. As this hood was also shared with the 30/31 Chrysler 66 we now have the grandaddy of the Neon debate. The Chrysler CJ had the low-profile radiators, the 66 didn't, but by the Dodge radiator this is no longer a valid point and this is not a closed car with a visor to tell one from the other. The pattern of the hood louvers don't seem to match either of these, but my assumption is the panel was missing from the original and someone with a coincidental welding experience had original reference material and half-heartedly tried to make a replacement. To make matters worse, this ad that describes a CJ actually shows the 66 (the four door open 66 was called Touring. Ignore the hood in the reference, the changeover was mid-year) https://classiccarcatalogue.com/C/Chrysler%201930%2066Phaeton.jpg CJ: https://www.ebay.com/itm/314701288022?chn=ps&mkevt=1&mkcid=28 Pretty much the only thing that still sets it apart is the fact that it has traces of surcingle cowl lights (mounted on a little holder on the DeSoto and 66) while on the CJ they were mounted on the scuttle, so it all boils down to 29 Desoto [K] Phaeton or a 30 Chrysler 66 of the same type. -- Last edit: 2024-02-03 13:50:08 |

22,606 Chrysler 66s vs. over 80,000 29 DeSotos - all-time high for the introduction of a new make in its first year at the time. Call it the latter? |

The owner seems to call it a 1929 Dodge on his Facebook. -- Last edit: 2025-04-22 20:23:34 |

DATOS DEL VEHÍCULO N° PLACA: KI9204 N° SERIE: 2702867 N° VIN: N° MOTOR: PP303114 COLOR: BLANCO NEGRO MARCA: DODGE MODELO: S/MODELO Engine codes starting with PP don't seem to turn up on Mopar cars of the era in my book? EDIT: Might be a Fedco number? PP would have been a 1926 Pontiac, however it might have been misread as RR which would be a 1929 Plymouth... Looks like an old body on a more modern chassis, has some "Glassic" vibes:![]() |

I think that's just the hackneying. Must be very hard to get parts in Peru... |
