I wonder if it is a genuine 5 Alpine? those from 1976 to 1980 had a different stipes on the side...maybe after market accessory on a basic model? |

Here it is -> http://www.renault-5.net/chronologie.htm (AM: 1977) - 'model 1981'. And it could be really the first year for such stripes, as since ca 1982 a lot of other versions had similar. |

It's indeed a 1981 model year Alpine. The "tulip-shaped" front seats ( that can be seen ) had been introduced in 1980, but these stripes were only used in the 1981 model - the Alpine Turbo replaced it for the 1982 model year. |
