To prevent burning your hands when trying to steer with the exhaust pipe. Perhaps this lockdown is just getting too boring. I can't drive further than Sainsbury's, can't sail my boat, the pubs are shut, and I've run out of Scotch. The caviar is getting low, and there is still the huge stock of bog rolls to worry about, not to mention a complete absence of self raising flour. I was addressing the "bonkers" comment but yeah, I've been lucky and don't have any gravel rash but have seen a few bad cases, a wasp hitting your knuckle at 90+ is painful though. When you stop for a brew/fag, the engine makes a great glove warmer.
