Location is on the Schwyz side of the St. Gotthard, long before they built the road tunnel; you either drove over the pass or took the car on the train from Göschenen to Airolo, which I did, as I was a bit tired ... I'd driven from Karlsruhe, and Switzerland didn't have any Autobahnen then
