Smells italian. Maybe Lancia Flaminia Convertible? And if so, were they officially sold in the States? |

I believe the only "official" Lancias sold in the US were the 1975-82 models, but some were sold here through 1967 from private importers/distributors, so it is possible to be a Flaminia. |

Lancia made a first attempt to sell the Lambda in the US in 1927, but that plan didn't fruit. ![]() |

"Standard Catalogue of Imported Cars 1946-90" says [1]^ that the 1927 Lambda episode was supposedly an attempt to build them in US, with prototypes shown at NY imports motor show. However although it seems to have been a stock market scam, there was a sequel with some Dilambdas sold in US, with coachbuilt bodies from Italy, UK and US (by Murphy). [2] ^^ it lists entries for Lancia from 1946 but no prices or importer until 1957, when a fairly wide range of models is listed with POE prices and various distributors including Hoffman (both East and West coasts), as well as "British Motor Car Distributors Ltd" for LA and San Francisco). Hoffman carried on wide range through 1960s until "official importation" diminished after 1967 (presumably as safety/emissions controls kicked in). Then some listings from 1969 distributed by Fiat with a new burst from 1976 with Beta derivatives. So early/mid-60s Flaminias could easily have arrived through recognised channels ($6485 for the Spider in the 1962-64 table). |
