Because of the rather simple grille I'd go for a 1971 Victor [FD]. |

I think it's a 1971 PC Cresta or Viscount. |

I think that the picture, probably by the use of a extreme telephoto lens, has distorted the shape of the Vauxhall - more than is apparent in the other cars. The effects of the distortion on the grill and headlights does give it a more 'flat' appearance that would make it more likely to be a Cresta [PC] or Viscount [PCE]. However for me there are other features than confirm it is a Victor [FD]. The air-inlets in the bonnet below the windscreen are of the 'scoop' type. The Cresta/Viscount has flush slot type inlets in the same area that would not be so visible. Also the 'A' pillar on the Cresta/Viscount is markedly curved more so than the Victor. The car here has an almost straight 'A' pillar. Lastly the badge on the bonnet is round as in the Victor [FD]. The badge in the same position on the Cresta or Viscount was 'V' shaped. Victor [FD]. |

Yes, I see what you mean ... position of the indicators, too. Funny it doesn't seem to have distorted the Alfa or the Deuche, though. |

Your right, I'm even thinking now the front could have been in a slight accident. The bumper gap with the lower grill isn't parallel. It does look odd, as if its been pushed back slightly. To me also the aspect ratio is slightly wrong the Alfa's and VW's headlights are not round I think. |

Although from GM, this is a 1971 Ranger, based on the Opel Rekord [C]. They were made in the GM plant of Antwerp, Belgium ( and it actually has a Belgian numberplate ) from October 1970 on. After this model, there was also a Rekord [D]-based Ranger. By the trim, the one from the pic must be a 1700 or a 1900 ( there was also a 2500, but I suppose it had a vinyl-covered roof ). |

As there is little chance of knowing if its a Ranger 1700 or 1900, can we settle on Ranger 1700 rather than leave it as 'unknown'? |

Thanks, Sunbar. It's OK with me. The pic you provided is also useful to see the trim and the wheels of the GTS version and it helps in a more accurate identification of the Coupé already listed on the site. |

Still, you can understand us being a bit confused. |

This looks like it's a 4-door sedan (am I seeing correctly?). If so, it should be 2500 (Ranger Sedan Super Luxe) as the 1700 and 1900 Belgian models were available only as 2-door sedans. |
