It's a 1965+ 21-window 'Samba' bus (extra windows in the roof, chrome strip on the colour-division) with a very strange rear wheel arch...

The 21-windowed Samba Bus was introduced with the wider rear door in August 1963 (chassis number 1.144.282).

We have one other example with this cut-away rear wheel-arch: /vehicle_80124-Volkswagen-Bus-Typ-2-T1.html
I guess this was done to have an easier access to the rear wheels for mounting snow-chains.

I have seen the chrome stripe on older models, too. But this could of course be an aftermarket addition.

Note: We have different ways of naming these 'Samba' buses:
- Volkswagen Samba
- Volkswagen Samba Bus
- Volkswagen Bus 'Samba'

As 'Samba' is not an official name (official was 'Sondermodell') but generally used (unlike the Typ 1 nicknames) I would suggest to use it in the name field. It would help finding these buses. When searching you need to check the 'Extra Info' field, unchecked by default, to find all appearances of the name.

BTW, it is a [Typ 2 / T1] ... I guess that was just a typo.
