According to my price lists didn't have any particular name, probably because here the sedan version was imported only for a short time and sold very poorly, whereas you could see the wagon around .gif ";)") |

August 2000+ in Germany. It was only called Rio and the hatchback was the main body style; the sedan came about three-quarters of a year later, sold poorly (typical for small sedans in Germany, hence why we don't have the Jetta 7) and was discontinued in 2002. |

Our market labels these as “mini-wagons”. I always thought they were hatchbacks.  thanks for the updates.It seems IMCDb is using the correct code for these as pulling VINs indicate [DC]. I checked wagon and sedan for US market. |

I remember when I was a kid there was an article on Auto Bild about a special offer on this car that impressed me a lot: 5 years free maintenance including spare parts and tyres for a starting price of about 10.000 euro. The parents of a schoolmate of mine bought one after reading this as a replacement for an Opel Astra F. |

IIRC here they were £6,000 new, which was really cheap, only really Peroduas and other really small cars were cheaper. I also vaguely remember an advertising campaign with a massive picture of £1 coin as they were selling them with a finance offer with £1 deposit. We only got the hatch, and it didn't come until July 2001. |
