I always thought Xiali should be a brand of its own. In my car catalogue years back it was like this as well. |

Thats how the brand is listed on IMCDB, i would be inclined to change it to simply Xiali too. I tried to suggest changes for multiple chinese cars and nobody listened... |

Nuh , Xiali is just the Wade–Giles for "夏利" , which is Homophonic translation of "Charade"(The original name Daihatsu used to name this model) "Tianjin" is the brand name. -- Last edit: 2022-12-11 09:35:26 |

From my understanding of the issue, the Xiali has been separated into its own brand at around 1996/1997. |

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tianjin_FAW There is some mess to clean with these Tianjin FAW "Tianjin FAW Xiali" and "Tianjin FAW Huali" as makes seem wrong, make should be just "Tianjin FAW" with the rest as model. From the wikipedia page it seems that indeed Xiali existed as separate make between 1997 and 2008, so for cars within that range we could use Xiali as make. I'll try to clean these in the next days, if no objection. -- Last edit: 2024-04-04 15:13:58 |
