Looks like FYK or FYX plate - both London 1939-40. No idea what this is - looks posh coachbuilt UK shape, but with US-influenced grilles?? |

It is a Pontiac but I have not found anything about the body maker yet but it might be by Carlton carriage Company. A similar one was on a 1937 Buick that was for sale recently. -- Last edit: 2015-06-14 05:26:59 |

I've got a very small book photo of a 1939 Hudson Eight with Carlton body which is very similar shape, but different details (faired-in headlamps, 4 door hinges instead of 3, flowing front wings instead of rounded); its plate KMP 95 dates to mid-39. And a - different - book one-liner that Carlton rebodied Buick, Chrysler, Essex, Hudson, Oldsmobile and Pontiac. So Carlton-bodied something looks a strong contender. I think this one is RHD. |

Try looking under Carlton Carriage Company, but differences will occur if the same body design is used on different chassis, sometimes the chassis suppliers offer a chassis and scuttle combination which causes front end details to be different. -- Last edit: 2015-06-14 14:44:19 |
