Two tone colour makes me think this is Zephyr version ![]() http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Ford_Zephyr_Six_1954_rearr.jpg |

@rjluna2: The top half of the Zephyr Six in your link is painted in the original colour, called Dorchester Grey, while the bottom half must have had a respray. That is as it doesn't look like any of the colour options available by the Ford factory at the time, the closest being Midland Maroon which is a very dark red nuance Link to "www.paintref.com" or https://www.flickr.com/photos/coconv/14566673837/ . The Mark I Consul and Zephyr Six were never originally painted beneath the side strip, but could naturally have had a respray afterwards. Instead it's far more likely to be the only model being offered with a two tone paint; that is the Zephyr Zodiac, a model made to compete with the Vauxhall Cresta. It was introduced in October 1953 (as of 1954 MY) which also can be seen as it has the longer side strip, but it also has the altered rear lights introduced in October 1954 (as of 1955 MY). I'd say it's painted in Dorchester Grey over either Canterbury Green Link to "www.ehattons.com" (likely, but bad picture) or Sheridan Blue http://nomadanglers.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/ford_truck.jpg (unlikely). -- Last edit: 2015-02-07 00:32:57 |

@rjuna2: I'm sorry if I have been rude. That was not my intention! My whole aim was to try to be informative. Edit to previous comment: What I meant with my last comment (in the one posted 00:21) is that the Sheridan Blue was never an option on the U.K. market, according to a Michael Allen book I have, but was offered on at least the Swedish market, according to a clour chart I have. Various other colours might have been on offer at CKD plants. My interest in those cars is because I have a 1955 Consul (in Dorchester Grey), a 1957 Zodiac and a 1960 Zephyr (the whole car resprayed (by previous owner) in a colour not unlikely the red one in your link, but in my case a Volvo colour). Unfortunately only the latter car in working order. |
