From what I can remember, Lisbon PSP (Polícia de Segurança Pública) forces had a few Brazilian-made Passats. Portuguese VW importer sold here a lot of VW Brasilias as well as a certain number of Beetles and Passats made in Brazil. In this case I would say it's a Passat LS (hatchback) that was introduced in late 1978. The advert was published in December 1978 and the leaflet is also a Portuguese edition. ![]() |

Are you sure about a Brazilian made Passat? The car on the main pic has all features and details of an early German Passat (rounded bumpers, chrome door handles, orange back indicators, not openable triangle window in the front doors).Any pics of front or back? The German Passat LS had squarish headlights and all early Passats aluminium-badges on the back (and the "PASSAT"-badge on the left) |

Although this was the shape of the Brazilian Passat between September 1974 and 1979 when it was restyled, one detail makes me think you may be right: the front doors' quarterlights don't seem to open (this feature is perceived on the blue car of the Portuguese brochure). In that case this may be, indeed, a German-made one that was used to mimic a real PSP car. |
