Of the "50-series" range.

1979 'V' plate would seem more likely, judging by the chrome headlight surrounds.

We've identified this vehicle using the details you provided
RENAULT TRUCKS 50 SERIES S46 U1 1980
Registration number: MLU990V
Body type: Luton Van
Colour: Unknown
Date of first registration: May 1980

I don't know where Renault came from, but other sites I checked returned a Dodge and agreed on May 1980 registration. Some of them also returned "Luton Van" and grey color.

It came from Renault Véhicules Industriels buying Chrysler Europe's heavy commercial vehicle business.

Quote In 1978, Chrysler Europe was sold for a nominal US$1 (equivalent to $4.82 in 2024) to PSA Peugeot Citroën, who took on the liability for its huge debts as well as its factories and product line, with the former Chrysler models in Britain and Simca models in France both using the revived Talbot marque from August 1979.
...
Peugeot took little interest in heavy commercial vehicles and the production of former British and Spanish Dodge models passed to Renault Trucks. The Rootes factory in Dunstable, England ceased manufacture of trucks, ending with the Renault Midliner in the mid-1990s.

Quote The Dodge 50 Series, later known as the Renault 50 Series, were light commercial vehicles produced in the UK by Chrysler Europe and later Renault Véhicules Industriels between 1979 and 1993 as a replacement for the earlier Dodge Walk-Thru stepvan and smaller Dodge Spacevan cab-over van. The Dodge 50 series utilized the same cab as the American Dodge B series vans, modified to cater for European regulations and needs. The chassis, however, was British-designed and had no parts shared with the significantly bigger American van.

France, I think ...

Serious answer - Dodge was one of the Chrysler UK brands which was bought by Peugeot in 1978 who didn't really want to do trucks, so set up a partnership with Renault who did want to do trucky things in UK, and particularly wanted an engine production site. The Dodge products continued, but some were rebadged Talbot for a time before they eventually all became Renault branded as Peugeot gradually left the party.
