![]() Very taut thriller originally made as a TV series (150 minutes) then shortened for VHS/DVD to 117 mins. Remade in 2006 as Firewall. My pictures from dvd - the long TV version has vanished, but if anyone ever finds it, there could be some more vehicles from the missing part. |

Filmed in London, Dungeness (Kent), and in and around Heathrow airport and trading estates. Slight elements of the excellent Malcolm for using radio-control toys (in this case with Cheetah and 4wd logos - any ideas?) ![]() to move things round inside a bank ![]() and confuse the security systems. But this one is not a comedy .. Early bit of dialogue has Bernard Hill talking about his wife running off with a salesman who owned a Rover 2000 S. There was never a 2000 S, apart from a couple of badged prototypes for the 2000 TC which had wire wheels and stainless trim on the rear pillars (and looked pretty racy). Some Intercity 125s nesting in Paddington station during the opening credits: ![]() ![]() ![]() Planes for impdb 1] 1967 Beech 65-B80 Queen Air, G-BSSL (C/N LD-344) ![]() ![]() - http://www.abpic.co.uk/photo/1162659/ , http://www.airport-data.com/aircraft/G-BSSL.html 2] British Airways 747 landing at Heathrow ![]() 3] Pan Am 747 at Heathrow ![]() |

R.I.P. Bernard Hill. He was in many superb things, but for me this was his crowning moment. |

Why this movie isn't better known is beyond me. I'd never heard of it when something possessed me to watch it back in the day, but it completely blew me away. Except for the Daimler's tires screeching on mud... ARGH! Where IMDb got 'and' in the title when it's '&' everywhere, I have no idea either. This turned out to be a significant upgrade as HD provided a lot more picture than original caps, and with that also several plates. bonus wagon (and a van in the background): ![]() ![]() bonus 1977 Mercedes-Benz 230 by plate RHB 911R: ![]() ![]() bonus van (FGT 392T returns a green/black 1978 Bedford): ![]() ![]() -- Last edit: 2025-07-10 18:18:15 (walter) |

^ maybe it should be mentioned for timing if you used the normal cut or the 8 min longer cut the longer cut just adds more character development scenes before the actual heist but it slows the pace down -- Last edit: 2025-07-10 10:33:51 |

^ I think I usually mention if I use something other than the theatrical cut, but yes, the timestamps are from the 113-minute theatrical cut. The added scenes in the "festival version" are of considerably poorer quality and make the whole thing look like a fan edit which it isn't. I should also echo dsl's sentiments above in that Bernard Hill's performance is astonishing. |
