Definitely a 1934 V8-40 (shape of grill and dual hood handles are the giveaways). Number painted on the roof is the licence plate number. In these early times of French stock car racing, the jalopies would use normal traffic go to the races, and (at least) the number was mandatory. Pic probably taken on the bank of the Seine river, in downtown Paris or close suburb.
