1988-1989. L trim I think because of the black bumpers. |

But it's not a Ford in orign, or? Just badge-engineering? -- Last edit: 2008-10-01 20:55:59 |

It was made by Kia, but I am not sure if it was just rebadged as a Ford, or originally made for Ford (at that time Ford owned a part of Kia). But anyway it was made by Kia and probably designed by them, so Korean origin is right. -- Last edit: 2008-10-01 21:24:21 |

I think Mazda made a version called the 121... not in the US though. |

It was designed by Mazda, built by Kia, and sold by Ford |

So orign Japan, not Korea? |

Yes, the Kia was a Mazda copy. |

But it was sold as Ford, then as Kia, then only some time later as Mazda ![]() |

I would say model origin Korea, this is not a Mazda, the only reason it was sold as Mazda was becuse it is a subsidary of Ford. |

I think this generation was manufactured under license by Kia Motors through Ford for North American market as described at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Festiva . I think this could described by Mazda of Japan as origin of design, manufactured by Kia Motors at South Korea, and sold for USA market. Rebuttal? |
