Being Hong Kong it could be either a Catalina or a Laurentian. |

That's a fake number plate. This scene must have been filmed in the Philippines. |

It's a 1969 Pontiac Laurentian. (origin Canada) The 1969 US pontiac models had their model name located below the side moulding and the canadian Pontiacs had their model names located above it. The Strato-Chief didn't have a side moulding but it did have a side marker light (other US and canadian 1969 Pontiac full size models had their side markers integrated to the side mouldings). The Parisienne and Grande Parisienne had rocker panel mouldings and the Grande Parisienne wasn't available as a pillared sedan). http://www.memturbo.com/pontiac/ -- Last edit: 2008-09-07 23:40:54 |

Did the Canadian Pontiacs have Chevrolet chassis? This doesn't look like a US widetrack. |

Well, they still had Chevrolet powertrains. The 1969 canadian Pontiac brochure states they are widetrack: Link to "www.memturbo.com" I know that older canadian Pontiacs had narower tread than their US counterparts. The brochure shows 63.5" front tread and 63.4" rear tread. Link to "www.memturbo.com" My '65 and '67 Buicks also have 63.4" inch tread at the front tread and 63" rear tread. I think that 63-64" was the norm for most full size GM cars after 1964. http://www.oldcarbrochures.com/main.php?g2_itemId=9158&g2_imageViewsIndex=1 |

My book shows the 1969 Chev front track as 62.4" and the 1969 US Pontiac as 63" so there is not much difference. It was earlier on - around 1959-61 - that there was a significant difference, but even then it was only about two inches. In answer to carnerd, as far as I know all of the Canadian full size Pontiacs were on Chev chassis and used Chev powertrains. -- Last edit: 2008-09-08 10:49:09 |

It's also possible to use the same chassis with different wheels and increase the track slightly. |

This must be a Yutivo-Built Pontiac, a small company that assembles CKD kit cars in the Philippines http://www.camaros.org/yutivo.shtml |
