But what about "Silverado" name? As I asked, isn't that just a trim? i.e. weren't these named "Suburban"? -- Last edit: 2008-06-02 10:29:19 |

Right Silverado for these years is a trim level. There was also Custom Deluxe, Scottsdale, etc. GMC models had different trim names. |

As far as I'm concerned, that counts. In fact, if we've already got this tagged as a K-10 and a Silverado, we might as well ditch the "Unknown" part. -- Last edit: 2008-06-04 18:06:23 |

Because I am still waiting for an answer to my question, weren't these named Suburban? (as I thought that K-10 as model name was just for pickups) If you say no we just name it K-10 and that's all ![]() |

Suburbans did get the same trim names as pickups, yes. And no, the K-10 & K-20 applied to Suburbans and Panel Trucks as well. And so did the C-10 and C-20. -- Last edit: 2008-06-04 20:55:14 |

But then this is a Suburban? |

Oh, then yes. And the thumbnail pics are proof of that. -- Last edit: 2008-06-04 21:49:18 |

It is indeed a Suburban, equipped with the Silverado trim level package. It added almost $ 1,000 to the list price of the vehicle (not including other optional extras) Silverado was the high-end luxury trim, the best money could buy at that time. It is fitted with a snow plow front end assembly. As it is 4-wheel-drive, it will have a New Process 2-speed transfer case with low range off-road gearing (also an optional extra) For enhanced off road traction, a G80 "Gov-lock" automatic locking rear differential was also available for an additional cost, but standard on the military version of the short wheelbase K-5 Blazer. The number "10" means the Suburban has a ½ ton light-duty chassis. They were (and still are) available as a ¾ ton heavy duty chassis for increased payload and towing capacity. |
