Yes! It's a 1951 Desoto Custom station wagon. It had a sweet little flathead six with what was called by Desoto a "Tiptoe Shift" transmission. A semi automatic if you will. I sold this car to the studios myself for the making of this movie in 1984. I sure regret selling it to them. Not only because I was paid the handsome sum of $900 for it. But it was such a cool car. Oh well! |

I brought this car about a year ago and was told it's a 52. I have imported the car to Australia. It looks exactly to same but now runs a supercharged 354 hemi with a 4 spd and 9" diff. If anyone has any more history on this car can you please let me know. |

Looks like both the hood lettering and emblem are gone. |

I just bought a 1951 Desoto Station Wagon! My second one! The owner that bought the Desoto wagon featured in the movie Island of the Wind, reach out to the owner who I purchased the the car from in a letter dated 1991, which I have, requesting any information about these cars! How cool is that. History! Can't up load pic's |
