I think all 1942 Buicks except the Limited and the Special had the new, full length 'Airfoil' front fenders. Therefore I'd go for a Special. But there were two Special series back then: Series 40A on a 118" wheelbase [47] and Series 40B on a 121' wheelbase [41] or [41SE]. The [41] was by far the most common. |

It could be that the 4-door sedans did not yet receive the bodies with continuous fenders. I know that the 1948 Special series never had them. I may agree with Special [41] because this one lacks chromed gravel shields and most of the window trim, but I am still guessing.
