Long story short after digging the history about Vespa in TW... Yes, model origin is still India. The PGO Sport was derived from Bajaj Chetak while Chetak was a licensed copy from Piaggio. Three companies built Vespa in TW at that time. TAIWAN VES-POWER CO., LTD (臺灣偉士伯), PGO (比雅久, which sounds like Piaggio in Chinese), Paijifa (百吉發) Taiwan VES-POWER and PGO built TW-spec Vespa models licensed by Piaggio. PGO also designed its own models similar to Vespa after the partnership with Piaggio ended. Paijifa, however, directly contacted Indian Bajaj to produced scooters that Piaggio licensed to Bajaj. ^ so PGO contacted Bajaj too or jus this 3rd company Paijifa ? if not it means all this PGO Sport are not origin India reminds me of the Massey Ferguson tractor situation in Turkey, there was one direct official licensee for them but dozens of other local tractor assemblers bought CKD kits from iranian ITMC who also has a MF license for Iran... result is you have many MF tractors will all sorts of different brandings  -- Last edit: 2025-12-12 16:42:54 |
