Wonderful detail: The Jaguar's license plate is "OB 3" for Oliver Barrett III, Ryan O'Neal's father in the movie. (This is the father's car in the movie -- the father, of course, being played by Ray Milland. Ryan O'Neal plays Oliver Barrett IV.) |

Yes, and Jaguar referred to the paint color as "greensand" in 1969. It was a pale ,pastel kind of green. In 1972 I was 21 and had bought a used "E" of that same color combo, only with the additional removeable hardtop. After a minor dent I had the entire car repainted and I researched the original paint color to be sure I repainted it exactly the same. They had a 4.2 liter straight 6. I was a member of the local Jaguar club in Austin ,TX at the time and took pride in my XKE. Now I'm 58 and still have a Jag. '94XJ12. |
