70 S 5 doors, not available in Italy but the most common 5 door in Super trim in the German market

Introducing the Uno at Cape Canaveral was nothing short of a cruel joke. The brand was suffering from a crippled reputation at the time in America. This was the car that brought Fiat back on track...and it wasn't sold in the New World.

i guess they hoped that the move would help skyrocketing the sales numbers ..

The Uno was a great success indeed, but not for the movie which was not very famous.

This shortly happened to every Italian and French make, not mentioning British which had worse problem at the time. Only German (particularly executive brands) remained in the US market but it is interesting to note that even VW never had the same selling figures experienced in the previous decades. In USA European car means luxus or executive car. There is no place to other ones.
