skydragoness...welcome to the site. just because it's a nicknamed a 'Beetle' in the US...that isn't how they're named in other areas (1200, 1300, 1302, 1303, etc). |

"Beetle" is the nickname all over the world, well perhaps the meaning of the nickname change in some of the countries, but i doubt it was its real name, "beetle" has been always a nickname, in Spain we call it "Escarabajo" it means literally "beetle" |

In the US, Volkswagen of America referred to them as the Beetle in national advertising, later models were referred to as the Super beetle. |
