I've just read a claim that the reason for a long sequence of cars being named Cedric is a grateful tribute to a senior Austin negotiator called Cedric who arranged the licensing and tooling transfers for the Nissan-built A40 Somersets in the 1950s; Nissan's president promised to name one of its leading models in his honour, and have kept that promise for over 50 years. I like nice stories.

This is an aftermarket color. Cedric Specials were only available in black and dark purple.
