How do you tell the exact year of a post-1998 Crown Vic, were there some modifications to the design? |

There's small differences for most of the years, such as the headrests, the black trim, different grilles, etc. I'm a volunteer member of my local sheriff's department, so I'm around a lot of these cars and can therefore tell. -- Last edit: 2007-03-19 23:30:33 |

Could you provide a little guide, because I'm always wondering how to tell the year of a Crown Vic when the basic design has pretty much remained the same since 1998. |

That'll mean you'll take my job away of being able to identify the crown victorias on the site! Just kidding: 1998: Chrome trim, chrome grill, chrome piece under the tailights 1999: Gloss black grill, black trim, chrome piece under the tailights 2000: Flat black grill, black trim, black piece under the tailights. 2001-2002: Black HONEYCOMB grill and no black trim (2000 was the last year for the black trim) 2003-2004: Larger headrests and newer 8-hole steel wheels (unlike the previous years these are no longer deep-dish) 2005: only year for the 12-hole non deep-dish wheels 2006-2007: Redesigned 10-hole steel wheels that I believe are deep dish. With this list I am only describing fleet vehicles, not the civilian versions, not the Street Appearance Package, not those. Also keep in mind that not all the crown victorias on this site fit the description. For example, there's some 2000 with newer honeycomb grills, or some 1999's with a black piece under the tailights and not a chrome piece. At this point, there are no 2005 or newer crown victorias posted on the site. -- Last edit: 2007-03-20 04:10:22 |
