That's what they were called in '82. They dropped the "G" part in later years. The G indicates the platform, just like the K on the Aries/Reliant.

Ok. I thought you meant it was a trim level. But yeah, that's what they called the rear drive GM A-body after the new front drive A-bodies (Celebrity, 6000, etc) came out in 1982.

Mine is owned since new and I have the 1984 window sticker from this very cars window which says "1984 pontiac bonneville model G" officially listed. However, there is no badging on the vehicle itself. This is still a model G in 1984 because it was listed on window sticker, even if there is no badging.
