This SM ( #16 ) was the 1971 "Rallye du Maroc" winner with Deschaseaux / Plassard. Although it was almost standard, this slightly lightened SM was homologated in Group 4 because it had a more direct exhaust system, a bigger fuel tank and the Michelin RR ( Résine Renforcée ) reinforced fibre wheels weighing 4.2 kgs each - the latter eventually offered as an option for all SMs. The short-film "Première sortie, première victoire" by Claude Caillet celebrated the achievement, but unfortunately it remained SM's first and only win. -- Last edit: 2007-10-29 17:56:17 |
