Ford Super DeLuxe Fordor sedan 1947/8 (79A /89A V8 or 7HA/8HA six).Trim is 47/8 but there are several later non stock modifications as a non-original longer chrome slat on the trunk lid and apparently rectangular instead of the round parking lights under the headlights.Appears to be burning more oil than gas.

..Did the Japanese have their own version (copy?) of this car.?(..as it's supposed to be a set in Japan 1945)

No , these were imported from the US.If the action is supposed to take place in Japan in 1945, the model is somewhat young but 45/6 and 47/8 Fords are very similar except for parking lights under the headlights ,thicker non ribbed side trim on the 47/8 , different trunk trim and hood emblems. The first post ww2 US Ford left the assembly line on the third of july 1945 ,this is two months before Japan surrendered. It is therefore plausible that late 1945 cars were brought into Japan.

But they'd have to be shipped via a neutral country, and through seas full of warships...

Ford & GM had own factory in Japan, but stopped before the Pacific war.
1938 model was the last release that assembled in japan.
And the movie seems to be set in People's Republic of China in '80s.

It is impossible :D
B29 Air Raid were on Japanese Cities every day & night at the time. (My grandmother was died by the Osaka air raid  )
Although many pre/postwar cars were seen in occupation term, they were survivor or occupation-forces people's used cars.

You mean filmed, not set. There is a slight difference. :)

That is, the film is set during the Second World War, but was filmed during the 1980s.
