quiksilver ◊ 2008-03-25 11:35	In an interview about the film Daniel Craig said it was one of the prototypes and worth more than all the Aston Martins in the film and he was ordered to be extra careful with it. As they only had one any damage would have had to be repaired or avoided in the shot. That is probably why you only see it carefully driving along. As a car it is probably more realistically what you would expect a spy to drive in the real world!

JohnnyBlazE ◊ 2018-02-01 14:43	As someone who now owns a Titanium X Sport 2.5 Turbo, it's sad they didn't give it the ST badge. Handles well enough, isn't far off the mark in speed etc. Same look pretty much as this pre-production model. I'd say the "James Bond Experience" blurb is wrong, because it may have been a one-off at the time, but that body-kit looks like it made it into production. The Titanium X Sport 2.5T (XR5 Turbo in Australia) sports the same lines essentially, spoiler etc included. -- Last edit: 2018-02-01 14:47:06
Kowalski5599 ◊ 2022-11-26 20:33	I remember audiences (I saw the film in Calgary, Alberta, Canada) audiences laughed when they realized Bond was driving this car. I actually found the car handsome enough, it wasn't the "Bond" car but we didn't know the Aston would be appearing later. I actually drove a Ford Focus Centennial Edition at the time. We don't have the Mondeo in the Canadian market. The tail lights on this do slightly resemble the later Ford Fusion (Canadian market version) that we would get years later. -- Last edit: 2022-11-26 20:36:03

SixtiesSwing ◊ 2026-04-22 03:08	The car gas barely any screen time, and I do remember it was a pre-production model made of fiberglass as the real version had yet to hit the streets. I want to say that the film beat the car to the showrooms, but can't remember with certainty. I assumed at the time that the production company just wanted to throw Ford Motor Company a bone to get all the other then-Ford products into the film and keep the long-term relationship humming, and that the car's limited screen time was just to go through the formality of showing Bond in it. But from what quiksilver said near the time of the film's release way back when, it stands to reason that it's limited presence was due to the VALUE of the car. Any damage to it would be costly (if even feasible) to repair, and not only a problem for the production company in the difficulty of multiple takes, but also for the manufacturer in terms of development of the vehicle if it was so early in the production phase. My mind seems to go to the "this car isn't even on the road yet" when the film came out.
