It's not a Country Squire as it does not had the faux wood trim. It's a standard LTD wagon.

Just watched this movie for Halloween. The wagon is specifically a 1978 model.
In one scene (not pictured) I could see the wider spoiler under the front bumper which was exclusive to the 1978 models.

Production designer Tommy Lee Wallace told me at the Halloween convention in 2008 that this car was a rental. I imagine they could have kept a '75 model at a rental agency for three years, especially as this one is in such good condition in the film.

It's possible a rental agency could have a 3 year old car available...but I doubt it. Most rentals are brand new to maybe a couple years old at most. If they rented the wagon from a Ford dealership then it most definitely would have been a new 1978 model. This does not look like a 75 model to me...closer to a 78. But, I'm not an expert.

Michael's party wagon, baby! :p This car was creepy though...this strange station wagon with an official logo of some kind following these teenage girls around. Scary!! :wow:

Thumbnails number 1 and 3 both show the unique-to-1978 bumper spoiler.

Yeah...I agree. By the way--a few weeks ago I added some new info to the "Psycho" cars we were talking about last summer--specifically the old 1928 Model A. Just thought you might want to check it out. :)

Has anyone else noticed that Michael Meyers drives pretty good for someone who's spent most of his life in a mental hospital?

"Maybe someone gave him driving lessons".
(I never bought that he could possibly operate a car. A plot weakness, IMO)

Pretty funny thought: An everyday driving teacher giving lessons to a silent, masked Michael Myers.

I will admit however that I don't see what's so unrealistic about Michael driving. What people forget is that Michael wasn't a retard like Jason. He was psychotic and antisocial, yes, but he was a smart and calculated guy who knew what he was doing. Not to mention that he probably witnessed Loomis drive various times when being transported between institutions.

That and it would mess up the mood of the film if Michael was serving around like a maniac, hitting almost every other car and road sign, slamming on the brakes and gunning the engine.

Sorry. You can't just watch someone else drive, then get behind the wheel for the first time and drive flawlessly.
I agree, for the sake of the movie I guess they had to do this but I continue to feel it is a plot weakness.

I don’t think it was a plot weakness...remember Michael was NOT an ordinary mental patient—who probably would not have been able to drive. By the time he escaped the evil had taken over his mind and body. He was now just a robot-like killing machine that would do anything he needed to carry out his plan or motive...including driving a vehicle if needed.

Just saw this masterpiece—digitally remastered and complete with the famous “party” wagon, on the big screen...as several theaters had some special showings tonight on Halloween! It was amazing on a movie sized screen! Next year—40th anniversary Halloween movie, with Jamie Lee Curtis returning to her iconic role!! It’s supposed to ignore all the other sequels, even II, and be a new direct sequel to the original. Sadly I bet the ‘ol 78 wagon won’t make a reappearance. :p

Incredible to think this movie is now nearly 40 years old. The time really slips away.

40 years later it’s still an amazing “scare/suspense” masterpiece! :king: I love the no blood-n-guts, and the focus on the terror instead. Digitally remastered, on the big screen last night it was amazing & larger than life! :D

The original Halloween Station Wagon was stored away as an extra family car for over 30 year’s and was at a Horror Con with Movie Actor’s and Sean Clark. The look’s amazing and was awesome to see in person.
