I saw this chase when Who Am I? was on Channel 5 here in the UK the other day. The chase takes place in Johannesburg, but part of it was filmed in Rotterdam (where the last part of the film takes place) for some reason. The Rotterdam locations are the market where the cars drive down and then up some steps, the field where Jackie's Lancer churns up potatoes and hurls them at the bad guys, and the multi-storey car park where the BMWs fall off the top storey. (My guess is that the producers originally planned to have a chase scene set in Rotterdam as well but then decided to have only one chase and added the locations they'd found for the Rotterdam chase to the Johannesburg one.) Instead of bringing the two BMWs to Rotterdam, they just took the number plates and put them on two left hand drive models. ![]() The Opel Kadett appears in the potato scene: /vehicle_57522-Opel-Kadett.html -- Last edit: 2007-10-21 02:48:15 |

In the first period we can see the two BMWs they are grey right hand drive models as in the main picture. ![]() Later we can see the two cars with painted fog lights. ![]() After that in the scenes witch were filmed in Rotterdam, we can see a black left hand drive BMW with real fog lights, alloy wheels and different bumpers. ![]() And the poor BMW falls down. -- Last edit: 2012-04-22 00:19:20 (walter) |

M-sport cars are NL filmed, base trim models ZA filmed. You notice it by right hand drive on base car. Also ZA unlikely had a m-sport version imported at the time so they grabed the cheapest ones quickly put a spoiler on and painted some foglights. You also notice ZA and Netherlands scenes by cars in the background. In ZA theres bunch of old nissans and datsuns (we even see a rover vitesse in highway scene)on the road whereas in NL we see a variety such as opel astra, mk3 golf, citroen xm. NL scenes are on the parking lot where he does a 360 parking, than the open market scene where Jackie squashes fruit and drives down the stairs and the rooftop crash scene. Scene when they get stuck in the gravel is also NL. The rest is ZA like that highway they are driving on after the gravel trap scene. You notice when on highway theres bunch of old 80s cars on the road being crashed and they are driving on the right hand side so that is definitely ZA. |
