1998 Volvo 945. |

That would be a V90 in that year, and it would have long white headlights, a chromed grille and body colored bumpers. 1991-95 at least. I know there are several people who can narrow it down even further. -- Last edit: 2026-10-08 20:26:15 |

Are you sure? Why do you state that? What makes it as specific as a MY 1998? You have to let us others know. I want to learn. To me the front look somewhat similar to the 740 as well. |

Could be either a 1990 740 or a 1991-1994 940 |

It's boxy to be that. He gets to spout blatant lies & the admins don't trust my trim id's ![]() |

I don't think any admin trusts him, at least for now. Don't worry: to me you are still more trustworthy than him, even if some others asked to be cautious with your IDs ![]() @BK_BIGBACK > are you using AI to identify vehicles? Sometimes the suggestions you make seem so random and precise at the same time... -- Last edit: 2026-10-09 07:43:05 |

It was only the 960 that got that front end in 1995, and in 1997, the 960 was renamed S90 for the saloon and V90 for the estate, and it also kept the facelifted front 960 end, but the normal 940 series still kept the original front end with these big headlights and tall grille. Based on the headlights on this car, it`s either a late 740 or an early 940 us spec, since they kept the 740 front end for some years in America, i am not sure why. Here in Europe, the 940 had a different front end from the start. Here is a 960 1995 + front end shown, it`s quite different to this one. I used AI to find this vehicle, although I only do that when I can't really see the vehicle that good or if I'm truly stumped. My eyesight is poor. |

Was that meant for me? I try to provide links to prove my ID's, apart from those I have posted countless links already. Shall I change my behaviour in any way? -- Last edit: 2026-10-09 16:00:44 |

No, I'm stupid, and that was for BK |

I have poor eyesight, so I used AI to help me figure out the car. If anyone's lying, it's AI to me. ![]() |

In the U.S./CDN market they were (still are?) notoriously afraid someone would get hurt in a crash because of splinters of broken glass that might be the result if a headlight broke. Because of that they introduced 'sealed beam' headlights where they used plastics instead. The drawback was that you had to change the whole unit if a lamp broke. Europe used glass until the mid 90's when Perspex replaced the old material. That meant more advanced design of the lights. |

It seems to be one headlight in the front (and not two). That MIGHT point towards a 740. For the U.S./CDN market: late 740's, but apparently also some 940's: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1992-volvo-740-turbo-6/ https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1994-volvo-940-12/ Other 940's: Link to "en.wikipedia.org" I don't know why they looked like that. Perhaps someone else can enlighten me? |

Don't use AI too much for that. It is good for a lot of things now, but for car identification it is still a little random/approximate. Posting comments based only on that is wasting time. As said above, it wasn't for you, don't worry, your identifications/info are appreciated -- Last edit: 2026-10-10 11:08:13 |

I'll try to get my identifications from more sources rather than just AI from now on. Thanks antp! ![]() |
