Ohhh, i think this actually might be a newer version! At least the second car from the left should be one. The colorful examples are bit too far to definitely tell. I dont think anybody knows when the modernised versions got introduced...

The differences - two small white lights, one on each side of the taillight area. The original car had only one, and instead had two small indicators under the taillight units. Rounded off edges of the rear window, the original model had more square window:

Compare for yourself, old model:

I wasnt able to find the front end of that particular red unit, but this one has a newer front, and rear end matches, so it might be it:

Why was this not exported? It is literally the oldest most congruent Chinese car I have ever seen, in a time when most manufacturers in the country were making terribly scaled compact copies of bigger Japanese cars. I think Eastern Europe would have been a great testing ground, where new cars from Western manufacturers were still too expensive to afford.

They had plastic bodies and were built in very small quantities.

The station wagon didn't have a tailgate, otherwise the body would be too weak.

Looks like a cheap copy of the Corolla 4WD, while using the front end from the 2nd gen Honda Integra.

I think it could be circumvented, if they would make only the glass open. A bunch of other cars have had such tailgates too over the years, but then I can see a problem developing as with Tatra Beta (old CZ plastic bodied van), that the area around the hinges at the roof would crack and sag.
