Looks like a Muscovite Militsiya car, white with a blue stripe running down the side. -- Last edit: 2024-09-01 23:41:34 |

Ukrainian militsiya cars never had a blue stripe, in the early 90's they've had an American style black and white livery and later became white (or silver) with national flag stripe. Blue-striped militsiya cars were usually used in Ukrainian series made for both Russian and domestic markets so that without words on the door it would be unknown which country the car belongs to, since Russia is not the only country that uses this livery. At this picture even some kind of coat of arms is visible, perhaps a redesigned Soviet one. As for the car, Ukrainian militsiya got rid of Volgas back in the 90's and I'm pretty sure they weren't repainted, staying in the Soviet blue and yellow livery. |

Obviously because they could use that paintjob to their own advantage ![]() Black and white was also used in Belarus and Lithuania at the time (Lithuania later switched to white with a green stripe) -- Last edit: 2024-09-05 16:44:26 |

I knew about Belarus but I guess I kinda forgot about Lithuania. Also it looks like everybody forgot that Ukrainian cars looked like that. No scale models, pictures are hard to find, even though the car with original livery had been used as the emblem of State Auto Inspection all the way until the 2014 reform. -- Last edit: 2024-09-05 21:41:46 |

Lithuania was one of if not the first to have Western police cars, receiving a fleet of brand new Jettas in 1990: https://liucijus.lt/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/0041-35-mm-car.jpg |

Nice, didn't know that. Looks like Ukraine got non-Soviet cars only in the mid-90's, that's probably the reason why the DAI emblem I mentioned before has a car slightly resembling Mitsubishi Galant, I've rechecked BTW, it's green there for some reason. -- Last edit: 2024-09-06 08:20:35 |

Next in line were Estonia with some Saabs from Finland as a reindependence present: Link to "i0.wp.com" and Latvia with a fleet of E36s in 1993: https://vantagehistoric.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/686205-1.png?w=600 Looks like someone sneaked in a real goodie ![]() |
