Leyland OPD2/Albion Venturer/AEC Regent.

Was there a Guy variant as well, or perhaps a Daimler? Maybe Tilling-Stevens attempted to break into the Australian double decker market.
I don’t recall BMMO sending any chassis, nor did Foden’s afaik.

Or, was it a mock-up on a Bedford Rascal? The whole thing looks a bit ersatz to me.

Similar to the 1937 Leyland Titan TD4 with body Waddington H33/28R at Sidney Bus Museum on Youtube.

"unknown" no more!

john got the closest, as this was indeed an Leyland OPD bus

I emailed Shane Conway of (https://classicbuses.co.uk/++Index.html) for help in ID this bus and he was able to find it's origin
Shane Conway wrote
This is a former Sydney (New South Wales) 1940s or 1950s bus. I will ask some contacts in the area and see if they know anything more about it.
It has been identified as a former Sydney Leyland Titan OPD1 new in 1947. Fleet number 1780
