AP stands for "avtomobil patrulny", patrol militia version of UAZ 469B, on which an all-metal roof was installed, there was an iron grate between the rear row of seats and back side seats, the back door was locked from the outside, the window in it was barred. The prisoner's compartment had no side windows. Light came in through a single barred window in the back door. It was possible to observe the detainees through a window in the partition lined with metal mesh. Soviet slang word for this car was "bobik" or "kanareyka" (canary), the latter is due to its usual blue and yellow militia uniform. |
