Not a 128? |

Correct, not a 128. I also don't think it's a real Fiat. |

What makes you think that? |

It reminds Lada 2103, very much. |
◊ 2018-08-11 13:07 |
Yes, but it is 2106/1600. Footage borrowed from different film/series? |

Not as far as I'm aware. Magnum appears to drive it while being chased by an armored car through the jungle. |

Indeed, saw later the trailer, where the car is also visible and does some stunts. |

From the fantasy opening segment, the scene takes place in North Korea, where Robin Masters' character that is suspiciously a lot like Magnum escapes with a family to a waiting helicopter, which is piloted by a character just like TC. So apparently Robin Masters' novels are about Magnum and his friends.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() -- Last edit: 2018-09-25 17:54:59 |

There is no jungle in North Korea. |

And no 2106s either. |

No, the Northkoreans never were COMECON-car fans, they preferred and still prefer West German, Japanese and US cars, and then larger ones, not Lada-size or smaller. The only Soviet car, I remember, were some single Volga M-24. |

Well, I found lots of Nivas and UAZ in north Korean movies, in case you missed those. |

I mean cars, not 4X4 Jeeps. Most popular are four door-Sedans, I cannot remember Wagons and two door-cars. |

Other Soviet sedans...GAZ M-21 Volga, Pobeda, ZIM, ZiS were used in north Korea. -- Last edit: 2018-09-25 22:41:49 |

Discussion of Soviet/Russian cars in North Korea reminded me of a photo released by Korean news agency Yonhap, which was widely discussed in Russia on car forums in July 2018. It revealed that Kim Jong-un uses 2009 Lada Priora with old-style door handles for his inspection trips. You can see a chrome handrail installed in place of the front right seat headrest and decorated with coats of arms coverings: ![]() -- Last edit: 2018-09-25 23:11:33 |

It has been discussed here, too: /vehicle.php?id=1165854 ![]() What coat of arms would they use on the interior of a Lada really? To me it's some aftermarket seat cover. -- Last edit: 2018-09-25 23:06:26 |

3 stars. Fantasy sequence or not, it's used in a chase. |

I guess that's the element of surprise. Some worker sees a boring '09 Lada and thinks "Our grand Supreme Leader would not be caught dead in such a boring plain car." What a shock they got once Kim steps out of the car. |

That was one occasion when Kim was visiting an island and perhaps could not have his usual Benz shipped over. https://twitter.com/NKResearcher/status/1013002620162568192 -- Last edit: 2019-04-17 14:11:41 |
