YHO 399 = April-May 1960, Hampshire (also as the wall sign). Our first C-Type fire engine?? |

Possibly so. It doesn't seem to be high enough off the ground to be a four wheel drive. |

Earlier Bedford SHZ rear-wheel-drive chassis (SHZ 1954-1960) here... /vehicle_68642-Bedford-SHZ-1953.html http://www.romar.org.uk/page91.html replaced by 1960-1965 Bedford CHZ Self-Propelled Emergency Pump (4x2) (CHZ H=Special Fire appliance chassis Z=chassis cowl) interesting for being a rather late example of the 4x4 'Green Goddess' and 4x2 version. |

Lower, more rounded roof-line than the 'Green Goddess' type body makes it likely to be HCB-Angus; available on both the SHZ and slightly smaller CHZ (C5) chassis. Probably SHZ here comparing the crew-cab area with images in the book "HCB-Angus a Pictorial Record". |
