Actually, this movie is set in modern day England and a group of rich guys have forced all of England to participate in a massive LARP (Live-Action RolePlay) session. Dungeons & Dragons, known for having a big LARPing community, was only created the year before this movie. LARPing may not have been a thing yet and DnD may not have made it to England so in a sense you could consider this a proto-Dungeons and Dragons movie, if albeit an incredibly silly one.

well.. there was already double-deck buses in London in 50 BC https://pics.imcdb.org/2/asterix_003251.jpg .. ;)
in the same era the Scuderia was already racing .. :D
